“Yes We Can….Protect Our Progress and make THEIR Movement look like a TEA Party.”

As many of you know, on February 10, 2007 a Movement was born with the launch of the Obama For America campaign in Springfield, Illinois.  Grassroots communities, ideas and creative expression sprung up across the country both online and offline as millions of activists and supporters would eventually declare together that “Yes We Can” bring Hope, Change & Progress to our public discourse to form a more perfect Union.

President Obama received nearly 67 million votes on November 4, 2008, the largest Majority electoral coalition in U.S. history (including a connected network of 13 million email supporters, 18 million Facebook fans and 6.5 million Twitter followers), which comprised Progressives, Democrats, Independents and even Republicans and a new diverse generation of optimistic and service-oriented young voters, poised to dominate the political landscape for a generation.

Until November 2, 2010….when built on a highly-targeted and coordinated Social, Social Media & Media messaging and organizing campaign using tools like the Tea Party and Fox News the Republican Party proved that it now dominated the public discourse and had created an “enthusiasm gap” among those in the “Yes We Can” Movement interested in a New Kind of Politics.

Until February 10, 2011….when we will come together to celebrate how much we have achieved over the last four years (whether it was reported or not) and begin the process of working together beyond a single individual, campaign, party, or organization to better utilize the lessons of the “Yes We Can” Movement to support Organizing For America’s effort to “Protect Our Progress” but also expand on it to improve our lives and communities right now as well as on Election Day 2012 and beyond.

To help make this happen we’re launching, Network For Progress, a new organization that will serve as a Community, Advocate & Resource to provide “activist service-focused Communications, Outreach & Leadership/Development opportunities that were the hidden foundation of the “Yes We Can” Movement yet have been under-utilized since Inauguration Day while others have revolutionized Movement-building techniques from Jon Stewart on the National Mall to the young Egyptians on Tahrir Square in Cairo.

In a world where Mark Zuckerberg is Time’s Person of the Year and the President declares Google and Facebook to be America’s greatest achievements of innovation in his State of the Union Address, we will champion Silicon Valley-inspired 21st Century “bottom up” grassroots messaging and organizing techniques that can create an honest dialogue to provide the necessary Personal Relationships & Viral Buzz to build a permanent 24/7/365 Movement that meets its full potential to change America for the better.

And what better location to create a new paradigm for the people’s Movement, Discourse and Relations, politically and civically in America, than at PUBLIC Bar in Dupont Circle!

So, are you Fired Up and Ready To Go? Please join us!
